A Grateful Heart
Today marks the first anniversary of the launch of my business, Luna Zen, and of beginning my journey as a Breathwork Facilitator!
"Do what you can, with what you’ve got, where you are.” ~Squire Bill Widener
As I stand back and survey all that I’ve accomplished, I’m awe-struck by how far I’ve come in such a short amount of time; the unfolding of events has delighted me at every turn. I’m humbly grateful for the support of family, friends, and clients as I navigate this new terrain.
Along the way, I’ve discovered some nuggets of wisdom - about myself and others - and growth opportunities. What stands out most to me is the resilient nature of our hearts and the capacity of our minds and bodies to heal through the power of mindful breathing practices.
By showing up every day with curiosity, a willingness to be vulnerable, and to raise my hand and say, “Pick me; I’ll lead the way,” I honor my spiritual truth - I'm a healer with a gypsy soul.
Here are some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way:
Do something every day that challenges you. Move out of your comfort zone.
Risk-taking is necessary. Stretch just beyond what you confidently know you can achieve, and you’ll see massive strides in your growth.
Resistance to doing uncomfortable things arises, as do setbacks. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and find a new and creative way of looking at the problem.
Don’t look over your shoulder; you’re not going in that direction. Keep your mind’s eye turned toward the future.
Be kind to yourself and others; offer elbow room and grace when mistakes happen.
You’re stronger than you think you are - in mind, body, and spirit.
Emotions move through you quickly when you allow them the freedom of expression. Don’t dwell on the negative or chase the positive.
Don’t allow fear of the unknown to take the reigns. Turn it on its head by associating the feeling with excitement instead.
If you’re not 100%, all in - people, projects, or otherwise - don’t commit. Heartache and regret will only follow if you do.
Small and attainable daily goals add up to significant wins over time.
Beliefs are just that. You may have to dig a little to unearth the origins of a belief to help you make more informed and qualified decisions. Be specific and articulate.
Life is not a race; you get to set your own goals and timelines. It’s alright to coast once in a while.
Perfection is a way of hiding. Putting yourself in the hot seat by setting due dates for your goals keeps you accountable.
Do the work, even when you don’t want to. There is value in simply showing up. Persistence pays dividends.
Be indulgent with time for yourself at least once a week. Give yourself permission to play, relax, and rest without guilt.
Prioritize your close relationships. Your connections need care and attention to grow healthy and strong, just like a garden. What would life be without our tribe?
Present-moment awareness offers a salve for the wrongs of your past and safeguards against your future worries.
The Practice is the practice. There’s no arriving.
Listen to those who have your best interests at heart and have the experience to back up the advice they offer. Disregard armchair prophets and nay-sayers.
Build failure into your creative process; rapid prototyping of an idea first allows you to make changes quickly and easily. Be willing to pivot when something’s not working.
Don’t base your self-worth on what other people think of you. Their opinion doesn't matter - yours does!
Stand proudly in your integrity and honor your values.
Be your authentic self; you’re not going to be everyone’s cup of tea. That’s alright. Your people will find you.
Peace is yours when you invite forgiveness, joy, freedom, and love into your life.
I’m so honored to be allowed into your inbox each week. I appreciate your time and the opportunity to connect.
