(E)motion Is Dynamic
This week's post discusses leveraging our power to look inward, examining how we embrace our emotional world. We honor our emotions when we pay attention to how they feel in our physical bodies.
"Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength, mastering yourself is true power." ~Lao Tzu
This month's intention word is POWER. To talk about power, we also need to acknowledge our resolve.
Personal power comes from our ability to channel and release emotions rather than clinging to them out of a false sense of control. The often-overlooked modifier is our resolve. It's how we perceive our choices impacting us in the future. Resolve is the intention behind who we want to be. Individual power is our direct influence over present behavior and events. Together, power plus resolve help us find and navigate our purpose in life. If you attain power but have no resolve, you become stuck both figuratively and literally. Your physical body holds onto emotion as a residual sensation, manifesting as sickness and disease. Meanwhile, your mind idles in a cycle of negative affirmations, allowing fear to dictate your mental state.
Resolve allows you to infuse power with future intentions and gives you a vehicle to move your emotions.
Our seat of power resides in the Solar Plexus Chakra. When you feel emotionally stable, this Chakra provides you with a purpose (present self) and a sense of limitless possibility (future self). When we master this concept, we harness the body's power to actively transform and release emotions. Nonjudgmental awareness, paired with control of the breath, serves as a conduit for moving emotions through us rather than becoming stagnant mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Emotions are energy. They are grounded in our senses. They hold a frequency, and our bodies are capable of channeling and moving this energy. Emotional vibrations manifest as physical sensations in our bodies. They are felt. Each of us holds emotions in different locations in our physical body. If you allow yourself to sit with the feelings that arise, just noticing without rationalizing, the energy will shift and move through you. This often happens very quickly. Your brainwave frequency slows, telling your body that it's alright to let the emotion go. This release brings you into better alignment. You become focused, clear, and at peace with yourself.
The simple act of allowing your emotions to move through you, rather than holding on, offers you the gift of owning your future while embracing and delighting in the present. The power is within you to observe, feel, and release. When we resolve to fully experience the depth and breadth of our emotions, we usher in a new state of being and a deeper connection with our spiritual self.
Emotions are ephemeral. Therein lies the beauty. How we process them is key to a healthy balance between our power and resolve. Their divine endowment to you is awareness.
My question to you is: Do you allow yourself to FEEL the range of your emotions, taking in the full sensory experience?
