Radical: LOVE
Acknowledging and honoring our grief process in order to release ways of being that no longer serve us as we make way for renewal.
How do you navigate emotionally challenging times?
The Snowdrop Blooms In January
Words matter. What you say (and don’t) matters. How you deliver your message matters. How (and if) you show up matters. Even when it exposes you or forces you to concede; it matters.
Showing love and empathy for our fellow human beings matters.
We do not leave this world with Earthly possessions. We transcend, swathed in the relationships and love we’ve built. We leave behind the energetic resonance of those connections for the next generation to behold and nurture hope for a better future.
Yesterday, as I watched the inauguration, I realized I had been holding my breath, metaphorically speaking, for four long years. I had been waiting to hear the right words. And in a passionate, overwhelming flurry, those words were finally delivered. With a tone of optimism and respect. Succinct. Beautiful. Inspiring voices; one after another.
My heart soared and I could not hold back the tears…of relief and joy as I let go of the fear I had been closely guarding. An epic sigh ushered in lightness in my soul.
I realized I had been longing for compassion from not only our leadership but, our citizenry. Barack Obama’s words, “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for,” immediately came to mind.
We do not need to be rescued, just offered a sanctuary in which to grieve, acknowledge the discomfort and pain so that we can release, and create a way forward in these tumultuous times.
President Biden’s address was uplifting and also an honest assessment of the real and hard work ahead of us as a deeply divided nation.
Other speakers and singers of note:
Amanda Gorman. Elegant and eloquent. She said everything our country needed to hear.
Lady Gaga. HOLY National Anthem like I’ve never heard before.
Reverend Doctor Silvester S. Beaman. His message, “Now leave to serve,” resonated deeply.
Lori Marie Key. A Michigan COVID-19 unit nurse sings Amazing Grace. Gorgeous.
Now it’s time to inhale. Inhale all of the good things we want for our future. Hope. Renewal. Peace. Healing.
Love.
