Seeking Truth, Finding a Higher Spiritual Vibration
"Self-expression is the dominant necessity of human nature." ~Dale Carnegie
Communication is the dominant theme of your Throat Chakra. It translates and personifies who you are at the deepest core level - your true nature - giving you a voice in the world to express yourself. When this Chakra is balanced, you can listen to others with compassion, genuine interest, and understanding. Letting another person be heard is one of the most profound human experiences we can offer.
Definition: Throat - the front portion of the neck, beginning at the back of the mouth, consisting anatomically of the pharynx and larynx. The throat contains the trachea and a portion of the esophagus. In literary terms, it is the voice of a person or a songbird.
Manifesting your highest truth is the pinnacle state of your Throat Chakra. The energy of this chakra allows you to seek knowledge that honors your authentic self.
The Hindu word for your Throat Chakra is Vishuddha, meaning purity. It acts as a filter, restoring energy by attuning your ability to express feelings freely. Its symbol is a bright blue lotus flower with sixteen petals. It contains a downward-facing triangle surrounding a circle, representing ether or quintessence. These petals are often decorated with the sixteen letters of the Sanskrit alphabet, or vrittis, allowing the energy to travel in and out, carrying each syllable's sound. Throat chakra vowels are the language of spirit as they are considered the first entry point to pure consciousness.
Ether defines this fifth house of consciousness; your words, thoughts, and desires are carried on the air, rising up to articulate what you hold most dear to your heart. As part of your emotional body, your Throat Chakra can only expand when allowed the space and freedom to do so. Learn to trust your intuition and let it be your guide to self-expression.
Your Throat Chakra is responsible for regulating your thyroid, parathyroid glands, jaw, teeth, tongue, ears, sinuses, and neck. When out of balance, physical ailments can manifest as a sore throat, hearing problems, tonsillitis, mouth ulcers, tinnitus, bronchitis, asthma and ear infections, fluctuations in hormone levels, and pain or stiffness in the neck.
Your Throat Chakra is responsible for:
Speaking
Expression
Listening
Creativity
Intuition
Clarity
Integrity
Honor
Spiritual Purity
Higher Truth
Body Language
If your fifth Chakra is blocked, you likely experience frustration when it comes to expressing your feelings. This often means having difficulty finding the right words, particularly when you are scared of losing something or someone. Your body will use the language of fear to communicate with you. If you feel unheard or struggle to express yourself, you may whisper instead of projecting your voice.
Your Throat and Sacral (second) Chakras are in a reciprocal relationship; when one is out of balance or blocked, the other is as well. They are intertwined. By engaging your Sacral energy, you’ll better understand your inner guidance process. There is a delicate interplay between your personal connection to desires, passion, and creativity, which are influenced by these two Chakras' ability to keep each other in check. It requires being open and aware on the deepest level - to be vulnerable, listen, and communicate all aspects of your true nature.
Space creates freedom to explore and expand your perspective; it opens to a higher spiritual plane, allowing an awakening within.
The more we are willing to be vulnerable, the more we move past the fear of being seen, heard, and understood. We learn what we want to create more of and what needs adjusting in our lives to self-actualize. It’s an act of courage to share your true self with the world. Regular practice of checking in with yourself is the best way to keep the flow of your Throat Chakra open and fluid.
Define your absolute truth; speak it confidently as you let it resonate in your soul. Seek to listen and understand others with non-judgment, kindness, and compassion. This is the power of higher, intelligent communication and the very pure calling of your spiritual essence.

Humming and singing are beautiful ways to manifest what you hold in your heart. It’s a perfect avenue of expression and helps overcome blockages in your throat. Spending a few minutes singing in the shower can help, literally, voice your truth!
